Amended Calendar For The 2006 FIA WTCC

Friday in Monaco, the FIA World Motor Sport Council approved the amended calendar for the 2006 FIA World Touring Car Championship. Changes from the provisional calendar include: swapping the dates for Brno (Czech Republic) and Oschersleben (Germany) and for Puebla (Mexico) and Curitiba (Brazil); plus the postponement of Valencia by one week.

On Saturday, also in Monaco, Cristiano Mazalli, Marketing Director of the Municipality of Curitiba, presented the plans for the FIA WTCC Brazilian event to FIA, KSO and Manufacturers representatives. The Municipality of Curitiba and the Government of Paraná have planned to put in a strong effort in order to welcome the FIA WTCC and promote the event. Curitiba is the capital city of the State of Paraná and has a population of nearly 1.8 millions.

The Autódromo Internacional de Curitiba, located between the city centre and the International Airport, was inaugurated in 1967; the track is 3.7 km long.
