The FIA World Touring Car Championship Mexican round has been launched to day, during a press conference held at the Marquis Reforma Hotel, in Mexico City.

Before an attendance of more than forty journalists, representing the most important national publications and TV channels, the “LG Race of Mexico” has been officially presented.

The fifth round of the 2005 FIA WTCC will happen on June 25 and 26, at the Miguel E. Abed International Racetrack in Puebla.
“It is a great opportunity for us,” Event Promoter Julian Abed explained. “We surely wish to do our best for being up to this task. The FIA will inspect the track in January, and will give us the indications on how modify it for complying with all the requisites required by a World Championship. Because our company has a lot of experience, I’m sure we won’t have problems in meeting with their requests. Our plan is to complete all the works in one month time.”

The President of the Mexican Federation, Héctor Calatayud, commented. “We are very proud to host the FIA WTCC. In 2005 Mexico will be the only American Country hosting two FIA World Championship: the WRC and the WTCC. And this will surely represent a big boos for our whole motor sport movement.”
