Invited by Viktor Kiryanov, President of the ‘Russian Automobile Féderation’, the ITR board and advisory council had visited the centenary of the Russian Automobile Association. During the event, the last details regarding the planned Moscow street race were discussed and fixed.

More and more, DTM turns out to be a true export hit. In view of the growing popularity in Germany and abroad, DTM’s economic organiser and promoter, ITR e.V., has increased the number of DTM rounds from ten to eleven, with five events taking place outside Germany, for the first time.

In addition to Zandvoort, Netherlands, hosting a round of Europe’s most successful touring car series for the fourth time, already, Moscow (Russia), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Avignon (France) and Istanbul (Turley) represent an impressive four new abroad events on the 2005 DTM calendar, with two of them taking place at Formula One circuits and the other two being held as spectacular new street races. Two of the German rounds will take place at the rich in tradition DTM circuits, EuroSpeedway Lausitz and Motopark Oschersleben; the Norisring event is the third street race on the calendar, while the Nürburgring and the Hockenheimring - the latter being the traditional venue of the season kick-off and finale - represent another two Grand Prix circuits on the calendar.

“Thanks to five rounds taking place in European foreign countries, DTM will be even more international, in 2005,” said ITR Chairman Hans Werner Aufrecht. “And the fact that many countries have applied for a DTM round underlines DTM’s international popularity. With events such as Moscow, Istanbul and Spa-Francorchamps on the calendar and with new aces such as Mika Häkkinen and Allan McNish Europes enriching the DTM grid, Europe’s leading touring car series is even more attractive than it has been in the past.”
