The newly developed Opel Vectra GTS V8 for the 2005 DTM has completed its first test run. At the Italian circuit of Vallelunga near Rome, works-drivers Marcel Fässler and Manuel Reuter spent three days of testing with the new race touring car of the manufacturer from Rüsselsheim and completed about 1.200 kilometres (750 miles). Next to Swiss driver Fässler and Austrian-based Reuter, Frenchman Laurent Aiello and German Heinz-Harald Frentzen will also be driving for Opel in the 2005 DTM.
Volker Strycek (Opel motorsport director): “It is a good thing that we have already been able to drive the new car before the end of the year. At Vallelunga, we had good conditions and we have managed to complete our test programme.”
Marcel Fässler: “I am quite happy with this test. The new car gives a good feeling, but it is still much too early to draw any conclusions from that.”
Manuel Reuter: “We have already been able to rack up quite a lot of mileage and we have acquired valuable data. Now, I have a good feeling going into the Christmas holidays.“
