Mainz-born Manuel Reuter (43) will be contesting his 14th motorsport season together with Opel in 2005. Reuter be one of four drivers to race an Opel Vectra GTS V8 in in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) in the forthcoming year. Frenchman Laurent Aiello, Suisse Marcel Fässler and German Heinz-Harald Frentzen have already been confirmed as team-mates for Austrian-based Reuter.
"I am deIighted to be a member of the Opel team again next year. Inspite of my long-standing involvement with Opel, that wasn´t self-evident. For those team-mates who will be no longer on the team, I keep my fingers crossed", says Manuel Reuter.
Opel sport director Volker Strycek: "Although I am happy that Manuel Reuter will be working with us again next season, I regret that Jeroen Bleekemolen, Peter Dumbreck and Timo Scheider will no longer be on the team in 2005. All three of them would have deserved to remain on board because of their performance in the past season. But the budget cuts we have to cope with, allow us only to run four cars. Therefore, we had to decide in favour of one of the four equal candidates."
