TV coverage of the BTCC has reached an ever-expanding audience in 2004

Television viewers in the USA and Canada will get their chance to see the best of the action from the 2004 Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship next month when highlights of all 30 races from the season are shown on the Speed TV channel.

The coverage, made by Granada Sport, will run on the network throughout December and January and include the first-ever BTCC Masters race – for past champions and heroes of the championship – that took place at Donington Park's season finale.

Coverage of Thruxton’s opening round from back in April will be broadcast at midday on Wednesday 1 December. Action from Brands Hatch’s second round will be shown the following week.

Speed TV is the exclusive US cable home for many of the top motor sports series in the world. Now available in more than 66 million homes in North America, Speed is among the fastest growing sports cable networks in the USA.

Speed’s coverage of the BTCC further extends the championship’s worldwide reach: Fox TV has already shown the action in Australia and during the season satellite channel Motors TV broadcasted 90 hours of live coverage from BTCC meetings to a pan-European. Motors’ broadcasts also reach as far as the Carribean islands and Pacific and Indian oceans.

In 2004, 1TV – Russia’s equivalent of BBC1 – also took delayed live coverage of the BTCC action. Filmnet in Greece showed the action live in addition to viewers also being able to watch on Motors, while Sport TV in Portugal screened highlights.
