In Opel’s motorsport programme for the 2005 season, the focus is on the DTM. The Opel Performance Center GmbH (OPC) plans to run four new Opel Vectra GTS V8s. German Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Swiss Marcel Fässler have already been confirmed as drivers. Next to the involvement in the DTM, Opel will also be present in Formula 3, in rallying and in club sport in 2005.

“Over the past years, the DTM has developed itself in a great way and has established itself strongly, both among the teams and in the media“, says Opel’s motorsport director Volker Strycek. “We are putting all our effort into the preparation for the 2005 season. The team at the OPC DTM-Center in Bobingen has already been working on the development of the new car for months. The involvement of our team at OPC will be even more significant than in the past. This allows us to use our resources and possibilities even more effectively and efficiently.“

When asked about the driver line-up, Strycek continued: “At the moment, we are still in the process of completing our line-up. In any case, we intend to be more successful than in the past season. Moreover, together with our partners in the DTM, we will continue to work on the future of the series. The Opel brand will remain present in motorsport after the 2005 season as well.”
